Redeployment: Turning Cutbacks Into Opportunity

In the federal contracting world, change is constant. Agency budgets shift, appropriations get delayed, and long-standing projects can be suddenly paused or downsized. These moments can create uncertainty for employees who have dedicated years to supporting our mission partners.
As someone who works closely with teams experiencing these transitions, I strongly believe one thing:
No one at Alpha Omega should ever feel like they are starting over just because a contract’s funding changes.
That belief is what inspired me to launch the Redeployment Spotlight Campaign—a series designed to celebrate real success stories, highlight our internal mobility efforts, and remind our employees that Alpha Omega stands with them, especially during times of change.
Redeployment at Alpha Omega: Supporting people through transitions
Redeployment at AO is more than a process—it’s a commitment grounded in our values. When a contract shifts, our priority is simple:
Keep our people. Preserve their mission knowledge. Help them continue growing.
Our employees are the heart of this company. They carry our culture, expertise, and reputation into every program we support. By investing in redeployment, we’re not just filling roles—we’re supporting careers, retaining critical talent, and strengthening the long-term stability of the organization.
Real stories from the Spotlight
These past months, I’ve had the privilege of sharing stories that show what intentional, compassionate redeployment truly looks like. Two examples stand out as a reflection of our values in action:
Nolan Dyke: Supported every step of the way
When unexpected funding cuts hit the USCIS project, Nolan suddenly found himself without a role. I reached out immediately to walk him through next steps and ensure he always knew what to expect.
Within weeks, we transitioned him into a new opportunity aligned to his skills and long-term goals.
Rahaf Alhabashi: Finding confidence after a furlough
Rahaf experienced a difficult furlough when her contract funding was reduced. Through regular check-ins, transparency, and a thoughtful assessment of her skills and interests, we placed her in a new role that matched her background and opened doors for future growth.
Rahaf’s advice to others—stay engaged, keep an open mind, and trust the process—perfectly captures the spirit of redeployment.
How Redeployment works at Alpha Omega
Behind every successful transition is a structured, human-centered approach. My process includes:
- Early outreach as soon as a contract risk is identified
- One-on-one conversations to understand skills, certifications, and career goals
- Close collaboration with Talent Acquisition to match employees to open roles
- Preparation and coaching for interviews and transitions
- Consistent, transparent communication to make sure employees feel informed
Redeployment can feel overwhelming. My goal is to make sure every employee feels supported, empowered, and never alone during the process.
A Growth Mindset Helps Employees Thrive
One theme that emerged throughout this campaign is the power of staying open to new possibilities. Sometimes the best opportunities are not the ones we originally envision.
When employees share their preferences early, stay flexible, and stay connected with me and the TA team, it helps us match them to the strongest possible next chapter in their AO journey.
And through it all, they can trust that they have a team behind them—advocating, guiding, and rooting for their success.
Why This Campaign Matters
For me, redeployment is not just about filling openings.
It’s about:
- Supporting our people
- Preserving their careers
- Strengthening the long-term health of our company
- Living our HEART values—Harmony, Engagement, Accountability, Resourcefulness, and Tenacity
We launched the Redeployment Spotlight Campaign to share these stories with our AO community. My hope is that these experiences inspire others to reach out early, stay informed, and know that Alpha Omega will always stand by them, no matter what changes the contracting environment brings.
Redeployment is not a setback—
It’s a supported next step.
And together, we will continue growing stronger as a team and as a community.
