Strengthening U.S. Immigration: Alpha Omega’s Partnership with USCIS

June 6, 2024

Here at Alpha Omega, we are driven by a strong sense of purpose. As our founder noted, the U.S. is a land that continually offers opportunities—not just to thrive but to contribute meaningfully. Our mission is deeply rooted in these opportunities, making us a unique partner for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Our excitement for working with USCIS stems from our diverse team members, many of whom have navigated the U.S. immigration system personally. This personal connection fuels our commitment to the mission and ensures we never lose sight of the impact of our work. Scott Barnhart, VP of DHS Delivery, highlights, “Our team’s firsthand experience with the immigration process uniquely positions us to deliver empathetic and effective solutions. This personal stake drives our unwavering dedication to USCIS’s mission.”

Alpha Omega operates under a ‘one team’ focus, integrating seamlessly with USCIS to ensure the immigration process is efficient and effective. Our collaborative approach has enabled us to implement numerous enhancements, all under tight deadlines, demonstrating our capability and dedication. Under the guidance of government program management, Alpha Omega teams directed their efforts towards pivotal projects, encompassing system migrations, form enhancements, and technical debt alleviation.

In the past six months alone, Alpha Omega resolved 778 user stories and incident tickets, enhancing system stability and user satisfaction. Significant achievements include comprehensive revisions to key forms and addressing high-visibility issues such as the broken interview process and A-number validation, earning consistent “Excellent” ratings from USCIS. Our innovative approach led to deploying 346 releases with zero downtime, optimizing processes, and reducing technical debt. This collaborative effort with USCIS has been transformative, leveraging cutting-edge technology to streamline processes and enhance user experiences. As Yusuf Raza, Program Director, DHS, notes, “Our shared goal is to make the legal immigration process as seamless and secure as possible.”

Our CTO, Nitin Vartak, shares his journey from a work visa holder to a U.S. citizen, reflecting on the transformation of USCIS systems over two decades. Now, he leads initiatives to further enhance these systems, incorporating advanced technologies like AI and cybersecurity to protect and streamline processes. Alpha Omega’s efforts have substantially impacted the community and industry by supporting USCIS’s Electronic Immigration System (ELIS) and Refugee, Asylum, and International Operations (RAIO) portfolio. This dedication to modernization and optimize has significantly contributed to national security, border safety, and streamlined pathways to citizenship, embodying the mission to cultivate “a nation of welcome” and support legal immigration.

As we look to the future, we are committed to maintaining our high standards of operational excellence, empathetic service, and innovative solutions to support USCIS’s mission. “As we move forward, our focus remains on innovation and empathy, ensuring that our technological advancements always align with the needs of those we serve,” says Scott Barnhart. We are honored to contribute to a system that has touched the lives of so many, including our own team members, and we look forward to continuing to support and improve the immigration process for future generations.
